Colebrook joins regional waste authority preparing for July 1 transition

CT COLEBROOK — Colebrook and four towns join regional waste authority preparing for July 1 operations. The Northwest Resource Recovery Authority welcomed five new members on June 1, including Colebrook, Sharon, Cornwall, North Canaan, and Canaan/Falls Village, with Colebrook's Brad Bremer joining the board. Chairman Dan Jerram of Torrington presided as the board elected Norfolk First Selectman Henry Tirrell as Secretary and Canaan/Falls Village representative Dave Barger as Treasurer.
Following an executive session, the authority voted 9-0 to partner with the Housatonic Resource Recovery Authority to operate the Torrington Transfer Station beginning July 1, 2026. A tip fee will be established after the Budget Subcommittee completes its work at a June 4 meeting.
