Northwest waste authority authorizes $20,000 transfer station equipment purchase

misc · Meeting of July 20, 2026

CT COLEBROOK — Northwest Resource Recovery Authority votes to fund equipment and expand regional waste planning. The nine-member authority, which includes Colebrook as a member, authorized $20,000 for two used yard trucks at the Torrington Transfer Station at its July 7 meeting, with Torrington's Dan Jerram abstaining from all votes. The purchase brings recent equipment acquisition well under budget, with a payloader and excavator costing under $85,000 against the $120,000 authorized.

Members also voted to recommend a strategic planning proposal to the Northwest Hills Council of Governments for a $150,000 Sustainable Materials Management Grant.
